Governor Fashola recalls 788 sacked Doctors

Governor Fashola to day decided to call it a truce today and recalled all tne 788 Doctors he sacked in the Lagos. The Doctors had initially embarked on a strike which felt was illegal and proceeded to sack them and replacing them with other doctors to treat stranded patients.

Now, if only the Government of Goodluck Jonathan can get above their EGO and reverse some of their bad decisions like this, Nigeria will be a better place! Agree or disagree?

Muna and Modenine settle fued

At the Industry Nite yesterday, Muna had the opportunity to settle the ongoing beef MUNA & MODENINE CLASH by getting on stage and after doing some of her songs, she called up modenine by saying:

‘Now I want to do something I should have done a couple of weeks ago, ladies and gentlemen please can I call my friend, my brother, my hommie Modenine!‘

Modenine who was chatting with Ayo Shonaiya (Muna's Manager) at the time got on stage and said;

’It’s all good, I don’t take anything personal, this is the industry. We are here to make money out of this sh*t. SHout out to Ayo Shonaiya, for those who don’t know I’ve known him for like 10 years’.

I guess this puts everything at rest after Muna 'Pass the Mic' incident with Modenine at the Nokia 'Break the beat' competition.

An Italian working for Borini Prono has been kidnapped in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He was inspecting road projects at Bishop Smith Road, near Stella Obasanjo Hall along Ilorin-Offa Road, when the kidnappers struck.

The German engineer, Edgar Fritz Raupach with Dantata and Sawoe construction company who was kidnapped in Kano by a group claiming to be affiliated to Al Qeada in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has been killed on Thursday.

The German was killed during a failed attempted rescue by Nigeria security officials. Raupach was kidnapped in January and was killed in a suburb near the Bayero University in Kano on Thursday 31 May 2012.

A 3rd year student of Physics and Astronomy committed suicide in the early hours of this morning. He is said to be in his early twenties. Very unfortunate incident.

Man stabs self then threw pieces of intestine at police

Wayne Carter, 43, remains in critical condition in Hackensack University Medical Center intensive care unit after stabbing himself repeatedly in front of police, and then throwing his own intestines at them.

Carter called Hackensack, NJ police at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday saying he had a knife and he was going to hurt himself. Officers raided his Clay Street home, which he had barricaded with furniture.
When police entered the residence, Carter stood up and started to shout frantically at police, then proceeded to stab himself all over his body - leaving 50 wounds.
His intestines were sticking out a wound from his abdomen, and when police tried to approach him, he threw pieces of his skin and intestines at them.

The man had to be wrapped up to protect his wounds, then immediately taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where it was discovered hat he punctured his small intestine and sliced through a major stomach artery.
Police said the man has a history of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and has previously been taken to the hospital for psychiatric reasons.

Ice Prince admits he is a father?

A 20 year old lady, Bimbo Babatunde claimed the father of her baby born in March,2012 belonged to Ice Prince. The rapper repeatedly denied it and from what i heard, he demanded for a DNA test to determine the paternity of the baby. Well, it looks like it was a 99.9% match because when he was asked recently about life being a 'new dad'...he had this to say...
‘Yes I am. I have a strong team around me and we are able to schedule our events properly. This gives me time to take care of all the things that I need to take care of’.

Armed robbers attack passenger bus, rape girls!

Two females in a bus conveying passengers from Lagos to Abuja were last Tuesday raped by armed robbers who attacked their bus at Sagamu area of Ogun State.

The gunmen also robbed all the passengers. PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred around 12noon.

It was gathered that the three-man gang armed robbers were among the passengers that boarded the bus at Jibowu area of Lagos.

But on getting to Sagamu, they brought out their guns, ordered the driver to stop and then diverted the bus.

The Station Manager, Ifesinachi Bus Transit, the operator of the vehicle, who identified himself simply as Nelson, confirmed the incident. He said the victims would be compensated.

He said, “Truly, the bus was robbed, and I immediately left to meet the victims when the report got to us.

“I addressed everybody, including the two girls that were raped. Some were given money to return home while others were advised to report at our Jibowu office for another bus to convey them to Abuja the next day.

“Some of them disagreed with the arrangement. I spoke to the two ladies that were raped in privacy and volunteered to take them to the hospital. One of them refused and the other who said she was 18-year-old accepted.

Charles Taylor

The former Liberian President, Charles Taylor has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for war crimes. He denied the charges against him at the Sierra Leone War Crimes tribunal sitting at the International Criminal Court, Hague.

The war crimes were committed during the protracted civil war that tore the West African nation apart.

Having been convicted last month of the war crimes by the tribunal, the prosecutor asked for 80 years sentence but the tribunal, today, sentenced him to 50 years.

Interestingly, Charles Taylor never set for in Sierra Leone during the war.

Moshood Abiola University (UNILAG) shut for 2 weeks; students block 3rd Mainland Bridge!

Following continuing protests by the students over the change of name of UNILAG by the government, the university has been shut down by the leadership of the institution.

At the moment, hundreds of the students have blocked both sides of the 3rd Mainland Bridge in continuation of their protest over the name change (see more photos).

President Goodluck Jonathan, in his Democracy Day address to the nation on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, announced the decision of the Federal Government to rename the University of Lagos, Akoka, in honour of the late icon of democracy, Chief Moshood Kasimawo Abiola, the widely-acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. The election was reputed to be the freest and fairest poll Nigeria has ever had, but was unjustly and inexplicably annulled by Ibrahim Babangida, thereby denying Abiola access to the Presidency. With the Federal Government order, the name of the university was changed from the University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University, Lagos just like that!

According to MTO, One of Nicki Minaj's low level staff dancers took a girl (Nicole) who was Nicki's fan home and she turned out dead. From the reports,the lady was strangled and raped after she died.

The case is still under investigation.

Ex-Rector, Magdalene D. Ikpa sentenced to jail in Benue State

A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, northcentral Nigeria, has sentenced the former Rector of College of Advanced Professional Studies, Mrs Magdalene Damkor Ikpa to a three months imprisonment without an option of fine for slapping Mr Benjamin Awua, a senior lecturer of the same institution in 2009.
Delivering judgment on the matter, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Austine Ityonyiman stated that the act of slapping Mr Awua was an act of criminal force against him and was intentionally done to annoy him.

The Chief Magistrate said the convict who is a senior civil servant did not show any sign of remorse while the trial was on, adding that being a top civil servant was not a license to humiliate subordinate staff.
He said it was necessary for those holding key positions to exercise restraint, pointing out that what the former rector did to the senior lecturer who is an adult should be condemned.

Ityonyiman noted that there is need to deter those who may choose to humiliate others and called for severe checks on those who violate other people’s dignity.

MKO Abiola's son shocked at protest over the renaming of Unilag

The renaming of University of Lagos to Mooshood Abiola University has led many students take to the streets to protest against the name change/ MKO Abiola's son has this to say on the renaming

“We are shocked by the reactions trailing this development. My late father believed so much in education. He donated money to universities across the nation. Naming a university after him was a well-deserved honour, the renaming is just one way of honouring and immortalising him.

“He should still be given more honors, we see nothing political in this. We are happy about it and we are yet to understand the rationale behind people going up in arms over this”.

Mass burial for those killed

A brutal massacre in the Syrian town of Houla left more than 100 people dead, many of them women and children. Syria has being under spotlight for Months now after demonstrations requesting for the removal of President Assad started. There have being several cases of the military attacking civilians but this recent attack on the city of Houla is by far the most brutal.

Rupert Colville, a spokesman for the U.N. human rights office, said the majority of victims died as a result of "summary executions" in which "armed men... went house to house, killing men, women and children."

Syria has denied responsibility for the massacre, which it insists was carried out by "terrorists." Countries around the world have expelled Syrian diplomats in protest at the killings.

I hope this is over soon and the people responsible made to face justice and if it is truly Assad that is responsible then, he most likely will end up like Mubarak!

Police were busy yesterday afternoon circulating the picture of Danielle Camillia Gaysma in the hope of finding the girl who was reported missing, until the gruesome discovery.
The incident comes at a time when the country is getting ready to celebrate Child Protection Week.
Danielle’s body was discovered in the family’s deep freeze by police, leading to the arrest of her 48-year-old stepfather.
He is expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court this week charged with murder.
The girl, who was a Grade 4 pupil at Eldocrest Primary School, was first reported missing on Saturday.
Police said their preliminary investigations linked the suspect, who lived in the same house with the girl’s mother, to the murder.
“This matter is sensitive and we are not going to reveal more details at this stage,” police spokesman Sam Shibambu said.
Shibambu said they had launched a massive search after the family reported the girl missing.

'I’m pained not because a rumour was just speculated that CB is gay and head of Illuminati in Nigeria, but I’m touched due to the fact that you called it a “confession” through a fictitious interview that was never published in your paper or any other paper. If you could conclude that he is gay because of an interview culled from another paper, you should have balanced the story by insisting on hearing the other side. You are respected in the Charly Boy organization as one of the few credible journalists.

We are aware of your fight in the past for integrity and respect, so it is obvious why I can’t hide my disappointment that this irresponsible journalism happened under your watch, in the most unprofessional manner.

Anyway, I should hope that you have a copy of the original interview granted by the Areafada where he admitted being gay on tape'.

We will wait and see it unfold, will update.

Fail: Air Nigeria aircraft refuses to start!

Just like a molue, Air Nigeria aircraft refused to start yesterday. After several attempts by the pilot, it still didnt move.

The pilot then explained to the passengers that the development was caused by the fact that the ground power could not ignite the engine. However, after three different ones were brought and the aircraft engine still failed to start, the passengers demanded that the aircraft crew open the door so they could disembark.

You really need to follow the reports on the pension scam to see why this country is the way it is. The extent of rot is sickening!!! we need to serioulsy consider prosecuting some topshots and sending them to jail.

The bribe scandal took another dimension following the mentioning of the name of the immediate past chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mrs Farida Waziri, who allegedly working with the mindset that the Senate Committee would make good its promise of stalling the case of the accused persons, also got a property located at Parakou Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, as a bribe.
The principal suspect further alleged that the Senator Aloysius Etuk-led committee failed to fulfil an earlier promise of helping to stall their prosecution after collecting the N3bn contributory bribe.
A source close to the principal accused, Dr. Teidi, said that the cause of the disaffection within the Senate committee was borne out of the discovery that, out of the N3bn obtained as bribe from the six accused, Senator Etuk attempted to outsmart his colleagues by declaring only N500million, a paltry one-sixth of the actual bribe he allegedly collected and also participated in the sharing.

Last week i did a report on Ms Sahara who was born a man (Clifford Oche) but is now living like a woman. I got alot of calls from friends and emails from people i didnt know on that report asking WHY someone will do that and most importantly HOW. I came across the 'HOW' on the in the internet but the 'WHY' i guess is best answered by the individuals concerned.

Myself:

I am referred to me as Soji Bankole in the soap opera, Tinsel. I am fun loving, weird but a bit on the shy side.

How I got my Tinsel role:

Modelling got me on Tinsel. I have been doing fashion and photography modelling until my agent called me for an audition. I went for it thinking it was the usual fashion stuff. I didn’t know it was an audition for a soap opera— probably, I would not have gone. I was supposed to be there by 10 o’clock but eventually got there by 5pm! I was auditioned but didn’t expect anything to happen. Five weeks later, I was called and told that I’d gotten the role and was instructed to send my clothing measurements for a photo shoot. I never took them serious until I got to the venue of the shoot and I saw other cast members from other countries.

My modelling career:

I started in 2005. If I am counting from then, I’m sure I’ve done many fashion shows in Nigeria and about 17 TV commercials. These are aside from billboards and so many other adverts.

A 34-year old suspected drug trafficker has died after a wrap of cocaine he ingested burst in his stomach, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has said. The suspect, Ozoani Sunny Edwin, died on Monday but autopsy was completed on Friday, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, said on telephone today.

“During screening, he tested positive to drug ingestion and was placed on observation. He excreted 10 wraps of substances that tested positive for cocaine weighing 180 grammes,” NDLEA said.
” While still under observation, he complained of stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died. A post-mortem examination revealed that his death was due to one of the wraps of cocaine he ingested that ruptured in his stomach,” the agency added.
