Italian Expatriate kidnapped in Ilorin, Kwara State

An Italian working for Borini Prono has been kidnapped in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He was inspecting road projects at Bishop Smith Road, near Stella Obasanjo Hall along Ilorin-Offa Road, when the kidnappers struck.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the project was embarked upon by Kwara State Government.

Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers had neither contacted the company nor any other relevant authority.

The location of the expatriate whose name was not given was unknown as at press time.

The Public Police Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Olufemi Fabode, confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday.

Some of the residents that spoke to our correspondent pleaded with the state government, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the release of the expatriate.

They also appealed to the captors not to harm him.

A resident, Alhaji Ibrahim Mogaji, said the incident was sad more so when the state is known to be peaceful and safe.

He said, “Ilorin has been peaceful. This kidnapping is condemnable. We do not want anything that will threaten the existing peace in the state.

“We also do not want anything that will hamper the developmental efforts of the government. The captors should please release the victim unhurt.”
