President Buhari seeks internationl support to fight insurgency



President Buhari is urging the international community to support Nigeria's efforts to end terrorism, saying that ''victory over terrorism in Nigeria is victory for everyone.''
President Buhari made this call on Wednesday during a breakfast meeting he held with members of the Diplomatic Corp in Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He stated that all counter terrorism efforts of his administration were within the framework of human rights obligations which Nigeria subscribed to locally and internationally. The President said he was delighted to mark the important religious obligation with the diplomats, thanking all those who supported him during the election and the goodwill messages he received from various countries.
He said, ''Nigeria is ready to play the leadership role expected of her African continent and beyond and that is why it is taking the steps to tackle insurgency.''
President of the United States, Barack Obama is to meet Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday in efforts to strengthen the fight against Boko Haram through international support. During the four day visit, Buhari will also meet with other senior officials of the United States government. Both leaders will hold discussions on measure that will strengthen bilateral and international cooperation against terrorism in Nigeria and West Africa at large.
